Rancho LA TEMBLADERA couldn’t have been born in any other place than Martínez de la Torre, in Veracruz, because it is the world’s citrus fruits capital and a supplier of these products for 21 countries.
This family business began thanks to the good commercial eye of Grandfather Antonio, a man of the land who identified an opportunity to generate wealth and pursued it until it became the legacy of the García Cuevas family.
Grandfather Antonio was a farmer, but he decided to broaden his horizons, first as a driver and later as a cargo truck owner. His adventures as a freight transporter led him to Martínez de la Torre, where he learned about its important citrus production, so he decided to introduce the Persian lemon in La Merced market, in Mexico City, where only the variant of lemon with seed was known.
His debut as a wholesaler was not successful, but Grandfather did not give up, so the following year, with his son Leandro, he invested all his capital in filling a truck with Persian lemons that he drove to the capital city. Both offered their product everywhere (street corners, traffic lights, restaurants, to passersby, to the basket ladies...) until their stocks were completely sold out. It was 1981.

A year later, the Central de Abastos (CEDA) was inaugurated in the Iztapalapa area of the metropolis, because La Merced market was no longer enough to supply the capital's residents and commerce was growing at the same rate as the urban area. Leandro García, eager to make his way in that varied and colorful world, came to CEDA to work as a downloader. It was there where his happy encounter with Dr. Heberto Arboleya took place, a surgeon and producer of mamey in his THE TEMBLADERA ranch, in Chiapas.
Their first interactions were business related, but a solid friendship emerged between them that would last several years. Dr. Arboleya rented Leandro a warehouse to store his first freight of lemon and pineapple and the young man began to sell, with such good results that he soon concentrated on the lemon only, which was very accepted among buyers by then.
Some time later, Leandro bought Dr. Arboleya's warehouse. He had already established commercial ties with the producers of Martínez de la Torre and had learned new ways of packaging, until he became an important figure in the handling of lemon nationwide.
Leandro consolidated himself as a Persian lemon producer and merchant in 1995, as committed as Grandfather Antonio to bringing the noble products of the land to Mexican tables. To honor the great friendship and support he received from Dr. Arboleya, our ranch in Martínez de la Torre is also called LA TEMBLADERA.
Like all family businesses, ours has grown along with our offspring. In 2013 we created THE TEMBLADERA lemon juice, one hundred percent natural, unique in the market and widely accepted by our consumers.
